Message from the CEO

At the start of the new year, I am deeply honored to have been entrusted to lead the Emirates Foundation, which was established in 2005 with the mission of empowering our nation’s youth to become the successful leaders of tomorrow and carry forward the legacy of our founding father, His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. I have had the privilege of being with the Foundation since its inception and I am proud to have been part of its remarkable journey of accomplishments, working with its exceptional and inspiring youth and leaders.

With your valuable partnership and support, this organization has charted a remarkable journey of accomplishments over the years towards building a sustainable, prosperous future for many generations to come. I would like to take this opportunity to express my deepest appreciation for your contributions to the achievements of the Emirates Foundation, and to the realization of its mission to deliver social impact and create real change that will carry our nation forward on its path towards continued development.

As we look back over the past 12 months, we have made tremendous strides together in accelerating youth development, aligning with the National Strategy for Youth Development, while increasing youth volunteering opportunities to help embed a culture of volunteering in the Year of Giving. Through launching the largest volunteering platform, ‘Volunteers.ae’ and the first nationwide Youth Development and Youth Wellbeing Index, to delivering the biggest ever Think Science Competition and Fair, large-scale deployment of our emergency relief volunteers, financial literacy awareness building and youth social enterprise programs, we have exceeded our targets in 2017 and expanded our reach through our newly established office in the Northern Emirates to reach over 60,000 youth.

However, our journey is just beginning. With youth development being pushed to the top of the National Agenda, at the closing of our annual Youth Summit in November 2017, we called for greater cooperation between the public, private and community partners to increase youth engagement, placing youth at the forefront of developmental action, and empowering them with the capacity, knowledge and skills to contribute directly to sustainable development and fulfilling the UAE vision 2021.

In 2018, I look forward to working closely with you all to take our youth development initiatives to the next level of success. With the knowledge and experience we have acquired collectively over the last decade as well as our shared mission and clarity of purpose, we have the potential to make a lasting impact on an entire generation and beyond.

I am confident that, we will succeed in creating the opportunities, bridging the gaps and increasing the access youth need to fulfil their ambitions and advance the progress of our nation and its sustainable development.

And there is no better time to step us this commitment and partnership than in 2018, the Year of Zayed.
